Small Wonders

I’ve always thought that we weren’t supposed to pray for small stuff, minor details of life.  But I joined a group of ladies seeking spiritual guidance and learned we can — and, in fact, are — encouraged to carry on a daily conversation with the Spirit.  Recently, I saw a program on the Secret and learned about the power of attraction. Haven’t you noticed when you are grumpy that you seem to run into a bunch of grumpy people? I often wish my husband would just go back to bed! Then I feel terrible and ungrateful. Yep, just a worm; miserable and waiting to be smashed.

Anyway, if we pray continually, with a grateful heart, we can begin to see the Spirit in the small stuff and how much we are loved.  I recently was in Target buying paper goods for a luncheon planned for the group of ladies I mentioned earlier. So many colors and patterns, overwhelming when no decorating theme had been mentioned! Being a newcomer to the group I so wanted to fit in but this was just about plates, napkins, and cups!  In my inner dialogue I asked the Spirit to guide me to the right choice.  Yes, I felt silly given the tremendous pain in this world but we are told your every need is known.  I went with navy blue and white and chose napkins with a blue cottage design.

Tentatively, I approached the luncheon the next day with my contribution in hand.  Leaving the room, I heard someone ask, “Who brought the napkins?”  I knew it; I should have gone with solid white but there before me were the table settings in blue and white with, — are you ready? — beautiful white flowerpots with blue cottage designs!  I still get chills thinking about it today!  Let go of your worries, choose to be happy, and to share your joy.  If the Spirit cares about the everyday small stuff, you can rest assured, He cares about the big stuff.  Ask that His will be done and for the strength and comfort to endure.  Find the blessing.
